Tooth Extraction

Tooth Extraction

Tooth extraction is a dental procedure in which a tooth is removed from its socket in the jawbone. Taking tooth out is extreme and last step when all possible options of saving tooth are exhausted in severely damaged tooth due to decay which is most common reason of tooth extraction, Other common reasons for extraction include advanced gum disease, impacted wisdom teeth, or to create space for orthodontic treatment.

The process typically begins with local anaesthesia to numb the area surrounding the tooth. The dentist then uses specialized instruments to loosen and carefully extract the tooth. In some cases, particularly with impacted or complex extractions, a surgical approach may be necessary. After extraction, the dentist may place sutures if needed and the dentist may place a gauze pad to control bleeding, post-operative care instructions are provided to facilitate proper and timely healing, healing time varies, and patients may be advised on pain management and follow-up care to ensure proper recovery.

Patients may experience mild discomfort and swelling, which can be managed with pain medication and ice packs. Following proper aftercare, the extraction site heals, and patients are often advised on tooth replacement options if necessary for maintaining optimal oral function and aesthetics.

In Hampshire Dental Care regular dental check-ups are essential to address any concerns related to the extraction site and maintain overall oral health.
