What is Crown?
A dental crown is a custom-made cap that encases a worn-out, broken damaged, crooked tooth or gap between teeth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance. It is often used to protect a tooth with a large filling, cover a dental implant, or strengthen a tooth after a root canal. Crowns can be made from various materials such as porcelain, metal, or a combination of both.

What is procedure for Crown?
The dental crown procedure typically involves multiple steps. Firstly, the dentist assesses the tooth's condition and may perform any necessary preparations, such as filing or building up the tooth. While a permanent crown is being crafted in a dental lab, a temporary crown is placed to protect the tooth. Once the permanent crown is ready, the temporary crown is removed, and the new crown is checked for fit and colour.
Any necessary adjustments are made before permanently cementing the crown onto the tooth. The final step involves ensuring a comfortable bite and proper alignment. The whole procedure usually takes 2 weeks. The dental crown effectively restores the tooth's function, appearance, and strength. Regular dental check-ups are recommended to monitor the crown's condition and overall oral health.
